About David L. Hanson, Ph.D.
Dr. Hanson received his B.A. degree in 1967 from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and began teaching high school psychology in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In 1969, he entered graduate school in the Doctoral program of Clinical Psychology at the University of North Dakota and received his Ph.D. in 1974. His fifth year Clinical Psychology Internship program was completed at the Department of Psychology, School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In September 1974, Dr. Hanson accepted a position at the Mecklenburg County Mental Health Center in Charlotte, NC, and directed the programs for Staff Development, Quality Assurance, and Internship Training. In addition, Dr. Hanson worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the Adult Outpatient Department and directed the Management Information System for Area Mental Health programs. In January 1978, Dr. Hanson entered full-time private practice in Consulting Psychology.
Dr. Hanson is currently focused on helping industries, organizations, family owned businesses and individuals improve performance using effective assessment techniques, individualized feedback committed toward action planning and periodic individualized coaching sessions dedicated toward creating improved effectiveness.
While being a highly experienced Executive Coach himself, Dr. Hanson is currently focused on teaching leaders how to engage others in a continuous improvement effort as an "Internal coach" and improve the performance of teams to create "teamwork products."
For the last nine years, Dr. Hanson has been almost exclusively involved with Nucor Corporation (a steel and steel products company) and has been a personal coach to nearly 600 Nucor leaders.
